5 out of 5 stars Great Towels   August 22, 2010
Crisco931 (Santa Barbara CA)
I can't find these in my local stores anymore. They seem to only offer a few brands these days. We have a small puppy and these towels work great for cleaning up his messes and the rolls last a long time. With other brands, I was changing the roll everyday. They are sturdy and I use them as a washcloth and dish towels in my RV on camping trips.

5 out of 5 stars Great value   June 6, 2010

About a month ago I decided to take a chance on ordering via subscription, and I was not disappointed in this item. We go through a lot, and I mean A LOT, of paper towels in my house. My second case arrived, and I still had about half a case left from the first shipment. The rolls are about the same diameter as any other you can buy, but Scott has wound the roll very, very tightly and as a result you get many more sheets per roll. Not only that, but the towels themselves are very dense and durable...I use only four to wipe down my kitchen counters, and I have an enormous kitchen. You really can't go wrong if you buy this item - no fighting the crowds at the grocery store. Click, and it's done.

5 out of 5 stars Best paper towels you can buy   May 12, 2010

I had been buying these all the time from my local grocer (King Soopers), but they've stopped selling them there now and instead sell those annoyingly small rolls that you have to change out all the time.

These paper towels are nice looking and absorbent and tough! The long-lasting rolls really make them one of the best deals out there, and I'm amazed how long they last. I also like that they aren't that "select-a-size" crap, and that they don't have those dorky artistic decorations on the paper towel.

OfficeDepot has them for $[...] per 4-pack, however (4 x [...]) = $[...]... a bit cheaper than Amazon.

5 out of 5 stars Make sure you have a Large paper towel dispenser   April 23, 2010

These rolls are big! How big? According to the packaging, they are equal to 4 regular sized paper towel (PT) rolls. I don't know about that, but they are large. The sheets themselves are 11 x 11 inches, and while Bounty also makes the same size, what might be lost in quality makes up for in quantity. To me, Bounty is much adieu about nothing. Yes, Bounty is softer, but I really don't care how my counter-top or toilet feel if I use a slightly more abrasive towel. Since PT aren't meant as a substitute for bath towels, I personally think a soft, small roll doesn't stand up to a sturdy, large roll, not in these economic times.

How do Scott's PT work? Great. They are durable like Bounty, absorbent, just as thick, with a slightly raised pattern to help pick up grime and dirt. And they last forever! One roll just keeps giving long after a Bounty roll would have given up the ghost. I have a tabletop PT dispenser and these just barely fit, which is good as I really like that dispenser. A Bounty roll now looks alone on that dispenser. Can't speak for wall-mounted PT dispensers, but you shouldn't have any problems. If a Scott PT roll was truly equal to 4 rolls, it wouldn't fit on any dispensers, wall or otherwise. Whatever they compared it to must have been a CVS generic with about 100 sheets per roll.

As far as softness is concerned, the Scott PT is fine. Would I polish my silverware with it? Probably not. One, I don't have any silverware, and Two, I wouldn't use any PT for that purpose. I have Kleenex to blow my snoggin, TP for the bathroom, and Scott's PT for the kitchen. Every type has their place as it should be, and Scott's can be used as a quick replacement if needed without any scratching.

For anyone on a budget, or for that matter just wants a great deal, Scott's BIG rolls are perfect. If you're like my mom and you want a colorful print on your PT to brighten up your kitchen, then hang a nice picture and buy the Scott's. That's what she's going to do now that she's seen them in action in my home. :)

2 out of 5 stars Get Kleenex Viva   February 28, 2010
Cody Ritts (Sonora, CA)
I by far prefer Kleenex Viva towels.

Viva feels more like cloth, making it more absorbant. More like a shop towel.
Spills with these scott just soak right through, and then spread the spill around.
I have formed a habit of just tearing off 2 - 4 sheets every time I get a towel, so I am really burning through them quickly.

The strength of the towel is not great, I continually rip the towels in half when getting them of the roll. you almost have to stop and think about it when you are trying to get just one. I dont scrub much with a towel, but I dont think it would hold up well.

Finally, these rolls are large, and are a tight fit for some holders. In fairness, the packaging says so, and i knew they would be large, but it turned out to be more annoying than I thought it would be.

If you just want cheap towels, these are great, and are better than using standard printer paper.
