good but small March 7, 2010 superk8 (Arizona) My toddlers have been rashy with most other eco- or otherwise laundry soaps. I use half the recommended amounts with an extra rinse cycle. This particular soap has been very effective as a cleaner without degrading the fabrics or dyes. Body-fluid drenched blankets and clothes are nearly a weekly occurrence with 2 kids under 3 yrs, and my hubby is a weekend garage-hound usually encrusted with a toxic combo of testosterone-validating substances, so we really put laundry detergents to the test. I would prefer on big container of several hundred ounces rather than many small bottles. Other than that, it is a great value espesh price per load when compared to other eco- brands.
Wonderful high efficiency laundry product March 6, 2010 E. A. Getchell (Palma Sola, Florida) I have a front loading Maytag Neptune machine that takes HE detergent. I have been using Seventh Generation products since I first bought the machine 5 years ago to do the linens from my massage therapy practice. I wanted to keep my practice "green" while taking care of the special needs of my patients with chemical sensitivities as well as sanitizing my linens and getting them really clean of my massage oils and creams. I was always very happy with the Seventh Generation line of laundry products and kept using it for my personal laundry even after I was disabled and had to give up my massage practice. I've had no complaints whatsoever. It's really a wonderful high efficiency laundry product.
First of all, I absolutely adore the subtle scent! As an aromatherapist, lavender is high on my list of essentials. I use it whenever I can. The scent of Seventh Generation Natural Laundry Detergent, Blue Eucalyptus & Lavender Scent, 2x Ultra 50 fl oz (1 is delightful ~ light, fresh and true. It does not smell perfumey so it is acceptable for even the laundry needs of the males in your home. My bed linens smell divine! I've always rubbed a little lavender essential oil onto my bedding to induce more restful sleep anyway and it's very nice to have the fresh and healing fragrance of lavender from this laundry detergent linger. Furthermore, I myself have chemical sensitivities and Seventh Generation leaves no chemical residues that would normally cause me skin irritation and headache.
However, some folks, such as a few of my massage patients, are extremely sensitive to any kind of fragrance, natural or otherwise, so for my massage practice linens I would use Seventh Generation Liquid Laundry 2x Ultra Concentrate, Free & Clear, 32-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6), also with great success.
Perhaps more importantly, Seventh Generation is truly high performance. My multi-colored loads always come out beautiful and not one color has ever faded or run. My whites come out bright and white. I recently had some fairly soiled clothes from a small gardening project and I'm thrilled to report that everything, including white socks with ground-in dirt, came clean. I can't be more satisfied with the results.
Lastly, Seventh Generation does not contain animal products, NPEs, chlorine, phosphates, alcohol,EPA pollutants or dyes. And it is made in the good old USA!!! It's a great value at Amazon too, much less expensive here than at my health food store or the more progressive grocery stores like my local Publix which also carry Seventh Generation projects.
For my money, Seventh Generation is the way to meet all of my laundry needs.
Great detergent! February 17, 2010 Laura Seventh Generation's laundry detergent works great. It's good for the environment and Seventh Generation does not test on animals! I am a huge animal lover and won't support the companies that test on animals. Well, that leaves me to stop buying from so many companies (Proctor and Gamble, SC Johnson, Kimberly-Clark, Church & Dwight, etc). I love 7th generation and HIGHLY recommend their products. I'll be a customer for life.
Works great, hypoallergenic February 16, 2010 Christine Kruse (Salt Lake City, UT) I read some of the reviews on this page about how clothes came out tie-dyed looking after using the detergent. I have no idea why that would be. My clothes come out perfect. I use this detergent for both adult and baby clothes. Everything comes out of the baby clothes without an issue. I wash colors, towels, sheets, you name it. The only thing I can think of is that I always wash in cold water and I have a front loading, HE machine. There is NO reason to wash in warm water when using this detergent. It is formulated to be used with cold. Plus, if you are buying this for the environmental aspects, warm water wastes more resources!
leaves a lot to be desired January 18, 2010 Zardock (Brooklyn, NY USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Supposedly, this product helps protect the environment. I'm all for that, which is why I gave this product 2 stars. However, when it comes to actually cleaning clothes, this "detergent" is worthless. I am certain that I would get very similar results with water alone. Stains and even food smells from my cooking attire remained virtually intact. I bout this detergent at Whole Foods, and it was not cheap.
Clean clothes vs. clean environment... Until a better medium is available, I will continue using Tide. Sorry, environment.
