Product Description Equipped with MaxExtract technology and a powerful 12 amp motor, this easy-to-use carpet cleaner provides a computer-controlled system with carpet or rug settings for a professional-looking clean without the guesswork. Simply push a button and turn the dial to start the cleaning cycle. The machine's Dual Scrub technology combined with SpinScrub brushes surround carpet fibers to gently remove dirt from every angle. It also offers two spot-cleaning settings: a stream setting for smaller spots and a spray setting for heavy-traffic areas--just pull the trigger to dispense the cleaning solution. After washing the carpet, the machine produces high-velocity suction to remove dirty water, while its patented AutoRinse feature automatically rinses carpets with fresh water, which means less soap residue left behind. Finally, the cleaner delivers direct heat for fast drying within a matter of hours.Clean stairs and other hard-to-reach areas with the onboard SpinScrub powered hand tool, upholstery tool, or crevice tool attached to the unit's 96-inch-long stretch hose. The carpet cleaner comes with a blue LED headlight to illuminate spots and stains, as well as bright LED lights to indicate "ready", proper cleaning, and when it's time to empty or refill the tank. Other details include a 13-1/4-inch nozzle width, brushed-edge cleaning, brushroll shut-off, a 128-ounce clean-water capacity, a 96-ounce dirty-water capacity, a 30-foot power cord, and a comfort-grip handle. A 16-ounce bottle of professional-strength detergent comes included. Requiring minimal assembly, the carpet cleaner measures approximately 20 by 15 by 44 inches and carries a six-year limited warranty. I Already have had 2 replaced September 3, 2010 Thomas Tavelli (LINCOLN, CA, US) I owned the previous model for over 5 years without a problem. This model is the worst built piece of junk Hoover ever made I have replaced it 2 times already and now I have to take this one in for a grinding noise.
It could be the Best steam cleaner, BUT it's NOT September 3, 2010 Vidis (MO USA) Long story short, I bough this vacuum 2+ month ago and it works grate, while it works. This thing brakes so often that it doesn't make any sense. First one, just stopped working 3 weeks after I bought, so I just took it back to Best Buy, where I bought it for a replacement. Second one already broke twice so, yesterday, I just decided to return it. My friend is a manager there and she said about 1/4 of them either being replaced or return within first 30 days. To me that just tells that there is something very wrong with the craftsmanship of Platinum series Hoover.
One more thing if I posted this review within first few weeks I would give it 5 stars, so I wonder how many of the 5 star reviews could be a 1 star now.
Best Cleaner Ever September 3, 2010 greta pukl
After my Oreck cleaner stopped working, I bought the Hoover Platinum as a replacement. Well...my carpet looks better than it has in years! I used plain water to remove any old build up and was amazed at the results. The onboard heater really is a great improvement to all the other models. This is a big machine, but it's easy to use. Priced higher than other floor cleaners but the results are worth the money.
best carpet cleaner, hands down. August 30, 2010 Nicole Conway (california) I bought this from my local sears, I needed it fast since my Bissel carpet cleaner died at the worst time. I've owned 4 Bissel machines over the years and I"d finally had enough of them not sucking up all the dirty water and breaking after a year or two. Granted, I'm tough on carpet cleaners with two cats and a toddler in the house. But to go through 4 machines is a waste my time and money. I finally decided to go with the Hoover. I picked this machine mainly because of the warranty. Six years is almost unheard of. First, the machine is big, and fairly heavy with a full water and solution tank. The tanks are made of a fairly thin, rigid plastic. I could see how it would break easily if dropped or mishandled. But I understand the use of this type of plastic - it's to keep the overall weight down. I did have the little clip that holds the crevice tool break within fifteen minutes, but oh well, I never use that anyway. No big deal. What I do like about it is the suction. I though my carpet was fairly clean since I did use the bissel frequently. Not the case. OMG it was dirty! I cleaned my living room, went on to a hallway and guest bedroom and was done about 45 minutes later. I was amazed that my living room carpet was almost dry! That would NEVER happen with a bissel.
I also like that the machine is easy to take apart. The front just lifts off, the scrubber bar pops out and the brush roll is very easily accessed, it's not hidden by any retaining plates. The design is a snap to clean. You can't do that with a bissel. The other nice feature is that the clean water and dirty water tanks are separate. It seems more sanitary to me.
The only thing this machine is lacking - especially at it's high price - is a heater. You have to use hot tap water. That is the only feature Bissel has above Hoover.
Overall, a great buy so far!
GREAT August 20, 2010 Deborah I love this rug cleaner. This is my first Hoover product purchase and I love it!!
