Works great if used right August 20, 2010 Morganna Wolf (Pacific NW) I have used tablets for years. After a shape change they started not releasing from the soap holder.
Switching to this I have found my dishsed to come out much cleaner.
I have not had the film problem others talk about but then I don't completely fill up the cup and I don't fill a pre-wash cup. Where I live the water is soft and I always rinse my dishes well before putting them in the dishwasher.
I have used a variety of Seveth Generation products and have always been pleased.
Works better than conventional dishwasher soaps July 11, 2010 NotMyName I switched to this dishwasher gel from Cascade and I love it!. It smells wonderful, is better for the environment and I don't have to worry about the chemicals left behind on my dishes like I did with other soaps/powders/tablets/gels...
We do have hard water, very alkaline, so we do still get water spots on the glasses, but that's not an issue of being unclean.
I rinse the dishes (not wash) before loading them, to get the bigger gunk off - our dishwasher is older and can't do it all anymore, but I have had no trouble with this dishwasher gel itself. I love it and am a convert!
Not so great June 14, 2010 S. Patterson (San Francisco, CA) I have a 22 month old baby. Ever since he was born, I have been trying to avoid all scented products, as I have read that almost all contain pthalates ( chemicals used to bind fragrances). I read a study that found that pthalates can cause feminization of male fetuses and infants, and for that reason, I don't want any scented products in the house. Besides, why on earth would we ever want to put perfume on dishes we are trying to clean? I was overjoyed when I found Cascade made perfume-free and phosphate free product, "Pure Essentials". It works great, just like regular Cascade, but without the perfume or phosphates. Lately, I have not been able to find it in stores, so I decided to try Seventh Generation's dishwasher gel. What a mistake!! All ofo ur dishes come out of the dishwasher with a heavy white coating and often with food stuck on, despite the fact that I scrub and rinse before putting them in the dishwasher. I will never buy this product again. Love their diapers, but this product is not worth the extra price. FYI - I tried the Method eco-friendly dishwasher "tablets" witih pretty much the same results. The dishwashing (hand) liquid is great, but stay away from the dishwasher tablets. Also, I find "Birght Green" brand of dish washing liquid to be even better than the Method brand. It is not unscented, but the scents are supposedly from essential oils. It really cuts grease.
Neither "green" nor effective. Waste of money. June 6, 2010 Emm (Virginia, USA) This is a really poor performing product which leave glass dingy and simply does not clean well in the dishwasher. Wish I didn't have 5 more bottles of this stuff..... ugh! Only bright spot: does a good job as a granite counter top cleaner with a damp sponge. Doesn't lift stains but does wipe down daily dirt just fine. May try it as shampoo next on my dog. You know, to get rid of those five bottles....
Eco-Friendly Dishwashing Liquid June 6, 2010 Bargain Bethli (Central, CT) Unfortunately this was damaged and never delivered. I have had to reorder. I wish amazon would automatically reship.
