5 out of 5 stars Unbelievably fantastic   August 29, 2010
teachonymous (USA)
I am a clean person (not neat, but clean!). I vacuum almost every day because I have two cats and I have longish hair. But I noticed fur on top of the carpets, and started combing it with a rubber cat fur removing brush. That was productive but exhausting. I was shocked at the amount of cat fur that came up!

Clearly, I needed a new and better vacuum, (I have used Bissells for years). So, I got this one.

Within minutes, the canister was jammed full of fur and kitty litter powder. I went all over the house, and filled it FOUR TIMES! The next day, FOUR MORE canisters. A week later, I'm down to ONE canister a day.

A few years ago, my a/c died. When they removed the air handler, they said it was caked with LITTER powder. This meant that I hadn't vacuumed enough to get up all the litter. (It also means so much litter is airborne and that I'm inhaling it!). So, despite frequent vacuuming in the past, plus annual carpet steam/extraction, my carpets are not only filled with cat FUR but with cat litter.

I buy the clumping clay, and the dust gets on and in everything, so I moved the litter pans to the porch. So, everything in the porch becomes covered with this dust AND the dust and litter is in all my carpets. As a result of the new vacuum results, I recently tried "World's Best Litter" in one of the three litter pans (two cats). I notice no dust, the clumps are lighter, and I'll switch 100% to it soon. I wonder what effect the clay litter powder has on all of us and have been researching that problem.

This vacuum got so much up and is so incredibly effective, it has made me review how to best handle my cats. Vacuum with the new Bissell and vacuum frequently.

The Bissell Vacuum is fantastic, and the best I have ever used. I recommend it unequivocally. Feel free to email me with any questions about it. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.

2 out of 5 stars Great suction, Poor bagless feature design   August 16, 2010
Huckleberry Starnes (Atlanta, GA.)
We bought this vacuum a few months ago and the suction is great for cleaning up after our Lab, but recently when we try and empty the collection bin the "inner cyclone" (yellow part) falls out, or even falls before we take it out and makes it so that we have to use a butter knife to push it up in order to remove the collection bin.

It seems that the gap between the inner cyclone top and the taps that hold in place are too big to work correctly.

If it were not for this design flaw it would get 4 stars, so I would look at other vacuums in this price range.

2 out of 5 stars All this technology today but these vacuums still can't do a simple task and clean the floors!!   August 11, 2010
Kevin J Reich (QUAKERTOWN, PA, US)
I purchased this vacuum based off of all of your reviews! What's going on here? Am I missing something?? Are you guys paid by Bissell to write nice reviews?

Consumer Reports states that this vacuum is better on bare floors then the carpets but overall it was rated pretty much in the middle (not so good). I do disagree with CR regarding the bare floors! It doesn't pick up close to the wall. It doesn't seem to have alot of power on the bare floors so alot of times I was having to run over a spot twice! It seems to do okay on the carpet. It is easy to manage around unlike my old vacuum the Eureka Wind Tunnel. Which I also thought was over rated.

I am praying that the store will take back my Bissell after a week's use. I think I am going to suck it up and spend the money and buy the Dyson!

1 out of 5 stars Terrible   August 3, 2010
bissel the worst vacuum
Do yourself a favor. DO NOT BUY THIS VACUUM!! I have only had it for about 3-4 months now. I loved it the first 2-3 times. It really did an excellent job picking up pet hair off the carpet. But after only couple of vacuumings suction vent down the hill.
Today when I vacuumed the carpet it was leaving hair all over the carpet and I could actually see black dust accumulated on the carpet. I thought it may be due to filter but I changed that and no luck. Do not buy!! It only does good job first 2-3 cleanings after that you better buy new vacuum cleaner!
